Vancouver’s Uptown Village Association will host its Annual Sip and Stroll in conjunction with the Hough Foundation on Saturday, September 18th, In addition to wine tasting and shopping, this year’s event will introduce beer tasting to the festivities and debut many new seasonal brews. Participants will have the opportunity to sample an array of wine and beer varieties from regional wineries and breweries at 20 tasting locations set up inside businesses, all while strolling the Uptown Village shopping district and enjoying musical performances by local artists. Participants will receive wine and beer tasting, a commemorative glass and shopping discounts. For participants whom are not interested in sampling wine or beer, a $5 ticket will be available and includes non-alcoholic beverages and shopping discounts. Bottles and cases will be available for purchase from vendors at Cellar 55. The event will also feature raffles for a wine tasting basket complete with everything needed to host a wine tasting party, including a consultation from a wine professional, as well as several beer tasting baskets featuring group tours of breweries and gift certificates. Raffle tickets are available for $10 apiece. The 2010 Sip & Stroll is sponsored by First Independent Bank, Fazzolari Homes, Blairco Incorporated, New Phoenix & Last Frontier Casinos and The Columbian Newspaper. The Uptown Village neighborhood, first used by the Hudson’s Bay Company in 1824 and revitalized in 1989 by the North Main Business Association, is home to many original and unique businesses. The neighborhood frequently hosts street and art festivals, outdoor movies, parades and other family-friendly events. The mission of the Hough Foundation is to provide resources that promote physical, scholastic and mental health enhancement to Hough students, families and the surrounding community.
