Your Duties as a Board Member for Financial Oversight
This workshop will focus on the responsibilities of nonprofit Board members to maintain proper financial oversight.
We will cover what & how the Board meets its fiduciary responsibilities in this area . The workshop will discuss the similarities and differences in Board responsibilities for their organization’s financial health for Boards in smaller organizations without Executive Directors as well as Boards in larger organizations in which significant responsibility has been delegated to staff.
Presenter Cindy Cumfer
Cindy has worked with nonprofit organizations as an attorney for more than 30 years and has presented more than 100 workshops to nonprofits in the Pacific Northwest. Her legal services and trainings have reached thousands of nonprofit organizations in Oregon and Washington. She introduced and taught Nonprofit Law at Lewis & Clark Law School in Portland and has co-chaired and presented at all of the Oregon State Bar CLEs on nonprofit organizations since 1995. Cindy also has a PhD in History and is very interested in and knowledgeable about nonprofit history. She has a private practice devoted exclusively to nonprofits and can be reached at http://www.cumfer.net .
