Public Policy & Your Work
There are several ways Nonprofit Network SWWA facilitates nonprofits sharing perspectives, learning, and speak up on public policy .
WASHINGTON NONPROFITS PUBLIC POLICY FORUM
An activity of the nonprofit state association, Washington Nonprofits, monthly phone conferences bring nonprofit leaders from around that state together around issues of public policy interest. SIgn up here for these calls. At this point the phone calls are open at no cost to anyone who would like to call in and connect.
WASHINGTON STATE
Nonprofits doing business in Washington should check out their status, and need to register, with the Secretary of State Charities Program.
Look at the Charities Program website for more information.
The Charities Program has a new education program that is an important review of issues such as compliance with state tax law, gambling and liquor regulation.
The Charities Program has published a helpful resource for board members: Charity and Nonprofit Board Service in Washington State – Quick Guide. This 10 page PDF booklet can be easily downloaded for board manuals. Look on the right hand column for this Guide here.
